About

The Alva Garden Club was founded in 1957 by a small group of local people who had an interest in gardening.

The Alva Garden Club now consists of men and women of Alva and its environs who have a special interest in southwest Florida gardening, ecology and history. Members may have large or small gardens, but everyone enjoys the camaraderie of the monthly gatherings which include interesting and informative presentations, as well as varied field trips.

The Alva Garden Club is a member of the Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council, Inc. which consists of local garden clubs, plant societies and affiliates totaling more than 1500 members.  Its current headquarters is at 2166 Virginia Ave. (off McGregor Blvd.) in Fort Myers. The premises include the Berne Davis Gardens, Mina Edison Botanical Library, and meeting rooms. See the Garden Council website at www.fmlcgardencouncil.com.

The club now boasts more than 40 members. It generally meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM beginning in October through May at the Alva Methodist Church, 21440 Pearl Street, Alva, Florida, 33920. Visitors and new members are always welcome to attend the monthly presentations or field trips.

See the Meetings and Contact pages for more information and for occasional changes to the meeting schedule.
